Blessing of the Heart
Happy National Nurses Week! In honor of National Nurses Day (May 6), Maui Health normally hosts a "Blessing of the Hands" event. This year, in order to accommodate for social distancing, a "Blessing of the Heart" was held instead.
Chaplain John explained the change was due to social distancing with the inability of chaplains to hold the nurse's hands. He asked the nurses to place their hands on their heart, to connect with it, and he said the following:
“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.” ― Haruki Murakami
Bless your Heart for the Care it gives,
Bless your Heart for the Healing it provides,
Bless your Heart for the Work you do,
Blessings and Appreciation for your Heart . . . and for You.
