Hometown Hero - Shonie Abreu

Hometown Hero Week 18 Winner - Shonie Abreu

Congratulations to our Hometown Hero week 18 winner, Shonie Abreu! From the start of the pandemic, when masks were scarce, Shonie immediately went to work sewing masks for anyone who needed them. She sewed over 300 hundred masks and has given them away at no cost. She shuttles kupuna to their doctors appointments, helps to solicit financial assistance for those in need, and picks up groceries from food banks for those families that are unable to drive to get it themselves.

Thank you Shonie for the dedication you have shown to our community. Through your selfless acts of giving we are reminded of the importance of compassion for others and that true aloha spirit lives on in Maui County, even through the toughest times. You are a real life hero and we are forever grateful.
