Maui Health Participates in National Panel for Excellence in Heart Failure Care
The American Heart Association (AHA) sponsored a national virtual Heart Failure presentation on October 28, 2021. Maui Memorial Medical Center Quality Analyst RN, Leslie Lexier, and Cardiologist, Dr. Kimble Poon, were invited to represent our hospital by speaking at the Best Practices for Managing Diabetes in Patients Hospitalized with Heart Failure or Stroke webinar event. Both professionals shared the exceptional work done at MMMC to ensure our heart failure patients receive award winning care while at our hospital.
The leadership by Leslie and Dr. Poon in quality improvement, along with the professionals at the bedside caring for our patients practicing the American Heart Association evidence-based practices, have made the Heart Failure program at Maui Memorial Medical Center so successful year after year. Dr. Poon and Leslie shared experiences while implementing best practices, both barriers and successes along the way to earning the highest AHA Honor Roll award.
After their presentation, Leslie and Dr. Poon participated as content experts in the panel’s Q&A segment answering questions from locations around the nation. MMMC received many calls, emails, and written communications sharing how appreciative other institutions were for learning strategies to start, build, and improve the Heart Failure programs at their hospitals across the nation.
Thank you, Leslie Lexier and Dr. Poon, for representing our hospital in this national learning event. If you were unable to attend the webinar, watch a recording below or click here.
