MMMC Cafeteria Grand Reopening - Café Laulima

Hot, fresh, and completely redesigned!

We recently celebrated the grand reopening of our cafeteria at Maui Memorial Medical Center which was aptly named Café Laulima. "Laulima means "many hands working together in cooperation" which is what we do at MMMC to deliver the best patient experience and care. Gatherings around food are always a way to celebrate. So, our new cafeteria/ café can be a place we gather to eat and celebrate the many hands that work together at the hospital and in the community," said Laura Schick, a MMMC OB Nurse who submitted the winning name.

The cafeteria space has been fully revamped and offers an expanded menu that includes daily hot food selections, pizza and panini specials, a variety of burgers, and more grab and go items. Healthy options a rotating menu of fresh fruit, salads, coconut chia pudding, yogurt, spring rolls, and more.

Our week long celebration included a blessing of the new space by our Chaplains Amy and Jennifer, complimentary food samples, recipe cards and daily giveaway winners! The spin-the-wheel giveaway which included Maui Health logo items and Café Laulima food selections was also a big hit with our staff.

The redesigned dining room area also features professional photography by Maui Memorial Medical Center's very own talented employees, Cook Scott Idemoto and Histology Technician Jase Kalawaia.

“I was blown away by their photos and just the pure talent of these two employees,” said Maui Health’s Chief Operating Officer Wade Ebersole. “I think it is really special that we get to feature our employees’ photography in Café Laulima as it truly represents the gathering and celebration of each of the unique individuals and talents that contribute to providing high-quality, compassionate care to our community.”
