“This program is an incredible opportunity for people who are interested in a stable career in healthcare. Participants will earn while they learn, and at the end of the program can be certified as a nurse aid and begin a new career immediately,” said Kerry Pitcher, Sr. Director of Long-Term Care & Critical Access at Kula Hospital and Lanai Community Hospital.

“This year we were reminded how vital our health care professionals are to the health and well-being of our entire community and we welcome anyone with a passion for caring for others to join our ‘ohana at Kula Hospital. This is a first step to exploring the many different career opportunities in the health care industry and a way for our residents to make the move into something new, without having to spend time and resources going back to school,” said Pitcher.

The CNA training program started in June 2019 and is part of Maui Health’s “grow your own” initiative which includes a partnership with UH Maui’s College of Nursing as well as a number of advanced medical training programs offered to current Maui Memorial Medical Center employees.
