Mayor Victorino generously donated 200 N95 masks to MMMC on Friday

Wailuku, Maui, HI (May 3, 2020) – Maui Health would like to thank Mayor Mike Victorino for his generous donation of N95 masks. On Friday, he personally delivered the masks to Maui Memorial Medical Center and presented them to ICU physician, Dr. Mike Shea, and a team of nurses and medical staff.

“We want to thank our mayor and the County of Maui for their continuous support and for doing everything they can to assist our community hospitals on Maui and Lanai,” said Dr. Shea, who along with his ICU team, is on the frontline caring for critically ill patients every day. “We are truly grateful to our community for their support and generous donations in helping us to fight this pandemic.”

Last week, Mayor Victorino along with Senator Gil Keith-Agaran, Representative Justin Woodson, Representative Troy Hashimoto, and Senator Rosalyn Baker participated in an outdoor tour of the hospital’s COVID-19 response areas. At the end of the tour, the group attended an employee virtual town hall hosted by Maui Health’s Emergency Operations Center team and senior leadership twice a week to provide employees with the latest updates on the hospital’s COVID-19 response efforts. In the call, the mayor expressed his gratitude to the several hundred employees that were listening live. “I want to say mahalo to all of the caregivers out there. You are our frontline heroes,” he said.
