Do not get too close to the edge of a cliff- it may crumble.

Wet rocks are slippery rocks, walk very carefully and expect to slip if rocks are wet.

Flash floods are common. Do not cross streams in the rain.

Rain up the mountain from you can cause a flash flood, even if it is not raining where you are- know the weather in that area.

Stick to marked trails. Go with an official guide when you can.

Plan for the worst- tell someone where you are going and when you will be back, wear bright clothing in case you get stuck and bring extra food and water.

Leave early to avoid getting stuck in the dark. If it gets dark, stay put, rather than walking further and getting more lost.
